The Body Studio For Fitness uses Bioeletrical Impedance a popular method for determining body composition. It is based on the principle that the conductivity of an electrical impulse is greater through lean tissue than through fatty issue. An imperceptible electrical current is passed through two pairs of electrodes, which are placed on a hand and foot.  The analyzer measures the body's resistance to electrical flow and computes body density and body fat percentage.  Excess body fat has been associated with a number of health risks, including heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, gall bladder disease, cirrhosis of the liver, hernia, intestinal obstruction, and sleep disorders. The primary reason most adults begin exercise programs is to reduce body weight, so it is important to be able to have your body composition tested. The Body Studio can help you develop a safe and effective exercise program to help you  reach a reasonable body-weight.  Ideal body weight has historically been determined without concern for body composition and involved the use of the standardized height-weight tables.  Ideal body weight is estimated only from height and frame size without consideration of the composition of the weight.
Therefore, a well-muscled bodybuilder would most likely be considered overweight, while another person could fall within the accepted range and actually be over-fat by body-composition standards.
It is not uncommon for an exerciser to lose fat weight and gain muscle weight without any change in total body weight.
